Full Day Nairobi National Park David Sheldrick Trust , Giraffe Centre

This is definitely a must see while visiting Nairobi, it is a rescue centre for orphaned Elephants and rhinos where you are given a chance to see them at a close view and even touch if you want. The centre is open to the public for only one hour a day from 11am to 12pm.The elephants are from 4 months to 3years old currently.

Once the rhinos and elephants are fully grown and independent they are released back to the wild in the national parks and reserves especially the Tsavo east and west national parks. The trust has helped to save over 150 orphaned baby elephants over the years whose mothers were killed through poaching. You can adopt a baby elephant or rhino by donating $.50 per year.

Giraffe centre;

This is a rescue and breeding centre for the endangered Rothschild giraffe and its amazing place to visit whose main activity is to see and feed these majestically tall giraffes from a raised platform. The centre is only 20 km from Nairobi CBD.

Due to the great success in breeding this unique species of giraffe has been the genesis of the introduction of breeding pairs of Rothschild Giraffe to national parks in Kenya.

The sanctuary is also home to a big number of warthogs which freely roam along long giraffes in the area.

Nairobi National Park:

The park is located 7 kilometres from the CBD and it’s the world’s only park next to a capital city. Its easy to sport rhinos, many giraffes, African buffalo, hartebeest, Ostrich families, zebras eland, baboons, marabou stork, crowned cranes, secretary birds and many other birds, hyrax, hyena, tortoise and many other animals including cheetah and lions.
